No Matter Your Age, You Can Make A Difference
About Us

Hi, my name is Colin. I am 10 years old and in 5th grade. I love geology (any science really), history, the ocean, anything about WW II, Civil War or Revolutionary War, my friends and my family.

My mom helped me put this web site together because I am so angry about what is happening to our planet. Pollution and waste! What I hope is that kids will read what I write and start thinking about what they can do in their community to help keep the earth clean.

Keep visiting my web site and I promise to keep giving you cool things to read, and cool web sites to check out. Thanks! Also check out my blog at:

Our Mission Statement   "Our mission is to educate, motivate and encourage children of all ages to become more involved in taking care of their environment."

WHY?

A Message From Mom

A couple months back I was involved in a discussion with a friend about this web site.  My friend asked if I thought global warming was a "real" thing.  To be honest I don't know.  Do I believe we have an effect on our planet, oh yeah!  Do I think that what is going on is contributed solely by people on the planet; I'm not sure. Historically the earth has gone through changes much like this without the influence of people.   I do believe how we live (and again to be candid with you, our family is not perfect) has a negative impact on our planet.

So what is this site all about?   It isn't about whether you believe in global warming or not.  Essentially, if Colin and I can get kids his age and Jamie's age to think about something other then "how does what I do only impact me" and start thinking, "how does what I do impact everyone around me;"
we've won the first battle.  To have a general disregard for taking care of where we live is a shame.  That is really what started the whole thing.  Colin's disbelief that kids and adults thought it was okay to just throw trash where ever they wanted.  He would cry, when he was younger, when he saw piles of trash where they did not belong...like the beach (which is a sacred place for this little man).

The other function of this site is to act as a resource for kids and adults, providing them with other web sites to check out for information, that perhaps they do not know about.

Finally, it also exists to encourage everyone to get out of their homes and embrace nature.  To reconnect with the quiet world. I believe once people start reconnecting with the natural world around them then they are more inclined to want to take care of it.  They start to make decisions in their life that lean toward protection and conservationism.

We are always looking for ways to be better in our house.  It is almost a game to see how many things can we change that make a positive impact in our life and others.

Thanks for visiting the site! The Ecosavvy Mommy, Laura@ecosavvykid.com
